Is the CompTIA A+ Certification Worth It?

 comptia a+ salary

What does value mean to you? For most, value means that you get more out than what you put in. Getting a good deal on a house or buying a car at below market price is often equated with value. Sometimes value is measured by return on investment, or ROI. Other times value takes on a more elusive quality. For example, an unpaid internship doesn’t reward you with money, but instead experience – which in itself is often invaluable.

What about the CompTIA A+ certification? Is it valuable? Is CompTIA A+ worth the time and money you put in to studying and taking the exam? Keep reading to find out.

Is the CompTIA A+ Certification Worth It?

When it comes to what you put in versus what you get out, the CompTIA A+ certification is most definitely worth it – just ask the people who hold the almost 1.2 million CompTIA A+ certifications issued to date.

Those looking to start an IT career likely have aspirations to move up the ladder and eventually specialize in something they are passionate about like cybersecurity or software development. But everybody has to start somewhere. And the first step to launching that career is landing an entry-level position. That’s where CompTIA A+ becomes valuable.

CompTIA A+ is widely recognized as one of the very first IT certifications that prospective IT professionals should obtain. It’s the industry standard for launching IT careers. It not only validates your foundational knowledge, but it also shows employers that you are willing to learn and advance your career, and you have ability to study and pass an exam.

Simply having CompTIA A+ on your resume can place you above non-certification holders in line for an interview. And when you’re trying to win your first IT job, that’s a big deal.

 juniper canada careers

I joined Juniper networks Bangalore in 2012 and I worked there for almost two years. Following is my experience there. 1) Facility wise Juniper networks is top notch. They give individual cubicles to developers. Also they give RSUs, better than average market salary, they have good transportation etc.

2) The fact is Juniper networks is having some tough time in market for last several years. None of the new products is doing well in the market. For example I worked in a product called Qfabric. After several years of development and many million dollars of investment they scrapped the product. There is some kind of frustration, desperation and lack of vision among the top executives. This company now has all the symptoms of a sinking ship. They fire people randomly. Even senior level people are not spared. They fired their last CEO in 10 months. As a consequence this has become a place for playing politics where people are busy in saving their a** at the expense of others rather than doing any meaningful work for which Juniper was once famous for.

To summarize I will suggest potential job seekers to avoid this company for now. Things may turn better in future.

Average Juniper Networks Software Engineer IV salary in India is ₹ 28.3 Lakhs for employees with experience between 7 years to 15 years. Software Engineer IV salary at Juniper Networks ranges between ₹ 22 Lakhs to ₹ 34 Lakhs. Salary estimates are based on 23 salaries received from various employees of Juniper Networks.

Cisco Versus Juniper Router Comparison: Overview

A direct Cisco vs Juniper router comparison shows that both Cisco and Juniper routers are designed to be linked to networking hardware made by the same company. That means using Cisco routers with Cisco switches and Juniper routers with Juniper switches will help you avoid most major compatibility issues. There are three main aspects to consider in order to properly compare Cisco and Juniper routers.

  1. Impact of Market Share
One thing highlighted by a Cisco and Juniper router comparison is the fact that Cisco has a larger share of the overall router market. Because of that, there are more certified Cisco service engineers and more online support resources compared with Juniper for troubleshooting hardware issues.
  2. Two Different Modular Configuration Architectures
Comparing Cisco vs Juniper routers also shows that although modular Cisco and Juniper routers both have mechanisms for customizing port configurations and modules, the systems are very different. Cisco uses line cards, which are inserted directly into the router chassis, compared with Juniper routers, which use a multi-layered system involving Modular Port Concentrators (MPC) and Modular Interface Cards (MIC). In a Juniper router chassis, the MPC goes into the chassis, and then multiple MICs are inserted into the MPC.
  3. Optical Transceiver Form Factors
Another key distinction pointed out by a Cisco vs Juniper router comparison is that Cisco has it’s own proprietary CPAK optical transceiver form factor, which supports up to 100G Ethernet. Although Juniper’s routers support a combination of optical transceivers that support 100G Ethernet, including, CFP, CFP2, and QSFP28, they are not compatible with CPAK optics.

IAS officers are recruited through All India Civil Services Examination managed by Union Public Service Commission, whereas, PCS officers are recruited by State Civil Services examination managed by State Public Service Commission (SPSC).

In IAS exam, more emphasis is given on conceptual questions rather than factual, whereas, the case is vice-versa in terms of PCS exam.

Only Union Govt. more specifically President is authorized to terminate service of an IAS officers, whereas, the State Govt. has full right to suspend, transfer or terminate a PCS officer.

red hat certified architect average salary

red hat certified architect average salaryThe Salary of an Employee holding Red Hat Certified Architect varies from 3 Lakh to 15 Lakh per anum in Organizations having Offices in India. The Certification doesn't play that important role in Salary, it just helps the Employer to identify your skills.

While working in Red Hat, have seen Seniors who are just RHCE are earning more than 10 Lakh INR per anum whereas freshers (or Interns) who are RHCA earning 15k INR per month. Full time new Joinee Fresher may get Salary ranging from 3.0 to 4.0 Lakh per anum (Industry Standards you know). So don't trust anyone saying that fresher RHCA will get 10 Lakh/20 Lakh package (until and unless you have other skills like IIT pass-out and Strong Developer Skills :D), they are either ignorant or they are trying to get you enrolled in their institute for courses! I don't know about Jobs outside India, so won't comment on that.

Long Story short :
The RHCA certification won't guarantee you the highest Salary as a fresher/experienced, your knowledge, years of Experience & previous Employer's Salary will play important roles in here.

I won't be able to disclose my Salary here but I would give you a clue that RHCA didn't play that important role in all the hikes I got.

My answer is slightly dated, I did my RHCE on RHEL4 so it is now expired. At the time, the exam was offered as a combination RHCSA and RHCE exam, where if you received less than 80% you received RHCSA designation and over 80%, RHCE. I took the 4 day bootcamp before the exam as my prep. There were a range of people in the course, from yearlings like you to people with 10+ years of sysadmin work under their belt. Only 2 of us out of 7 got RHCE, although one of the people at the exam didn’t take the course (he was disappointed, as he was quite experienced and thought he’d get the advanced cert), but everyone passed and got RHCSA at least.

The main difference between the RHCEs and the RHCSAs was speed. The test required a lot of work to be done fast and without error. I still supervise and work with hands-on admins, and I think if you’ve been working on it and do some studying you’ll have no trouble with RHCSA.

They actually put us under NDA for the exam so I can’t talk about what was that old one, but it’s pretty well documented what the required skills are, so just make sure you’re fresh and are ready to troubleshoot and build cleanly and quickly.
